Theoretically it is automatic. GStreamer includes a VDPAU plugin in `gstreamer-plugins-bad`.

I think it is correct behavior of them to persist the entire time the stream is running.

Right it should withdraw them once the stream has passed.

I think depending on GOA is a pretty poor idea, hurts portability for no real gain.
