Max Payne and Max Payne 2, force d3d8.dll to detect and use dGPU

Open Hexaae opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

When these two games get launched on an Advanced Optimus gaming laptop they can't detect the dGPU (despite Windows 11 and NVidia settings configured for discrete gfx card!). I have to switch to NVidia only to launch the game properly (annoying).

Please can you add a general config option to specify/force the GPU at launch? This can be useful for other games too.

This also triggers a bug in Max Payne: when launched with Intel UHD gfx card, the launcher/game won't quit the task on exit. It does when it detects the dGPU instead, so a "force GPU at launch" option would be really helpful to workaround this original game issue too.
