Allow reorganizing/customise/customizing/changing home screen

Open TWiStErRob opened this issue 8 years ago • 3 comments

The implementation could be as simple as putting a dropdown settings icon to each of the 4 areas to be able to select what's shown where, list of options to think about:

  • properties
  • rooms
  • categories
  • lists
  • a particular list's contents (Can be used to emulate Favorites as user requested.)
  • a particular item's contents
  • recents
  • favorites (based on built-in list?)
  • biggest categories (https://github.com/TWiStErRob/net.twisterrob.inventory/issues/96)
  • biggest items

for a visual autist like me, would be if i could customize the home screen, to have larger pictures, and fewer fields (like hide properties, and lists and recents) and just have big images of the rooms -- https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgzGsmWwpwlHVMMWrrBGdzSJShxGd

I understand how I would enter things into the app - it's that half of the home screen is essentially wasted in my use case, by fields that will only ever contain 1 item - location and room. I'm not against scrolling - I just prefer to see things on as few pages as possible.. In different circumstances (multiple locations, or if I were to inventory my whole house), the hierarchical views could possibly be beneficial. In regards to flattening it, that would fit my personal needs more, but it would also depend on how the information is displayed in the app. If the main view were adjustable - whether that's being able to define what each quadrant shows, or even just defaulting to showing within a particular property/room/item, that could be the best of both worlds.. Mind you, I say that while having absolutely no idea how easy/difficult that would be to implement :) -- https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgxvwzldkHdbJKSZDtGMFflFvlGzk

being able to choose what the main screen subdivisions are would be awesome -- https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgxmTnNjKBxVtmqdrzrNnlqTvxSnK / https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/15b1390da814dff3

Can you please expand more on the main screen? Why do you want to change and what would be your expected arrangement?

As for what I was suggesting for the main screen, I like the room and list tabs. But given that I never use the property or recent tabs, I can't help but feel like it's wasted space.

I'd prefer being able to change it's function too, for example a list of the biggest categories I have or the most frequently visited categories. Or maybe a favourite locations tab where you could pin frequently updated areas, ie the fridge, if your user used the app that vigorously, or in my case my schoolbag, where I use it to keep track of which books I should be taking with me and which are stored in my closet. Their placement doesn't bother me too much, although given that the way I see most people hold their phone favours the lower side of the screen, the bottom right seems like the logical place for a favourites tab.

Note: Favorites tab is a little overkill considering the Recents shows you the most recently&frequently used stuff, kind of like an auto-dynamic-favs. So if you really update your fridge so much, it'll surely be on top!
