Allow search for lecture rooms not in use to use as group study room for students
Hello,
the TUM is lacking crucial group study rooms. One possibility to make it much easier and faster to find a room where one can work as a group would be to allow to search for a lecture or seminar room which is not used at a certain time. This should be easy to implement and would add a lot of value to students.
There is actually a study rooms feature in the app and online at http://go.tum.de/lernraum - have you looked at that? We are consistently expanding the system to include new rooms.
I have looked at your study rooms feature. However, my idea was actually targeting on ideally including all TUM rooms as potential study rooms. This would be possible if you display these rooms as studyrooms, which are not needed for seminars and lectures for a certain time. I would be interested in hearing your opinion to that.
TUMOnline has a functionality for this usecase as far as I know. Only people who have room-booking permissions can book these rooms and I do not think that the app is the best place for this.
http://go.tum.de/lernraum is integrated in the app. I think this can be closed. @kordianbruck what do you think about this?
Can you link the TUMonline functionality Frank? I have never seen that.
But I agree, without any booking rights you can't do anything with the search. You could just use it to look up a room and then high jack it without officially booking it, but ugh, idk if we should encourage that.
I am sorry.. I to not have the requisite permissions to generate a screenshot, but I have been told that it works by our student council leader.
It does need some work in terms of UI/UX (the latter is really creative tbh), but since this is only nessesary for lecturers, this is not a thing we have to fix in the android app..
Apparently they activated this feature for general usage recently:
