What are the relative costs of cloud providers?
People who post here generally know what the pricing is like for various cloud providers. But it’s not obvious to new users how to choose a vendor that best fits their needs.
We can’t document every provider in the world, so I think they’re not eligible unless they have specific support in Streisand. For now, I think it’s fine to be US/EU-centric. Here’s a rough sketch:

The problem with markdown, and conventional wikitext in general, is that every input produces an output document. There are no errors, syntax or otherwise. So when you write a table in a different MD syntax, you get no help.
| Provider | Price per month | Free transfer | Price per gigabyte | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon EC2 | $9 | 1GB | $0.09 | Default t2.micro instance, not reserved |
| Amazon Lightsail | $5 | 1000GB | $0.09 | Small plan |
| DigitalOcean | $5 | 1000GB | unknown? | Small plan |
| Azure | $14 | 5GB | $0.09 | A0 instance |
| Linode | $5 | 1000GB | $0.02 | "1GB" instance |
| Rackspace | $50+$4 | 0 | $0.12 | Minimum $50/mon charge |
| $4 | 1G/day | $0.12 | Iowa datacenter | |
| Vultr | $2.50 | 500G | $0.01 | Manual install only |
I added Vultr, because I wanted to know what people were excited about. Now I see.
You mention most of them I'll just add VPS.net. Prices similar like Linode and DigitalOcean! I've used all three for different projects over the years including VPN nodes - all perform very well. All of these three provide outstanding support.
Any tips for an (eu based) privacy minded cloud provider to run Streisand?
