Prepare demo mode for App Store review

Open drewvolz opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Updated guidelines as of 10/24/2022.

  • For stoPrint we have a toggleable demo mode.
  • For SIS balances we may want to perform the same set of demo wrapping (data, navigation, state value)

Revised in Before You Submit: “Provide App Review with full access to your app. If your app includes account-based features, provide either an active demo account or fully-featured demo mode, plus any other hardware or resources that might be needed to review your app (e.g. login credentials or a sample QR code).”

Added to 2.1: “If you are unable to provide a demo account due to legal or security obligations, you may include a built-in demo mode in lieu of a demo account with prior approval by Apple. Ensure the demo mode exhibits your app’s full features and functionality.”

This may be our new iOS release blocker

Plus it would let us test more of the app… yeah, we should really do this.

Idea: put a "demo mode" button in settings (or at the bottom of the Home Screen?)

That's one way! I was also considering adding a demo login which could kick-off the flow of using mock data.

My only worry is that since we don't allow email addresses… but I guess we could special-case "[email protected]"?
