Electron 15 and older marked EOL on NixOS

The distro I use, NixOS, has flagged electron versions older than 15.0.0 as insecure (EOL). I tried merely upgrading electron to a supported version and all I get is a blank box, so I'm guessing there are some code changes that would need to be made to support a newer version. (Then again, I can't get it to run at all on NixOS even with the supported version, because it crashes.)
