[Feature request] Add live timer to top panel on Gnome when minimized

It would be great if one can quickly check how much is left on the current timer while working. The only option currently is to use the always on top mode. Unfortunately, this is not always an option since it takes precious space from the screen. Adding a live timer on the top panel when the app is minimized would solve the problem. The request is for Gnome since it is the default desktop on Ubunutu, the main linux distribution. But obviously, the solution would work for other OS.
