Feature Request: Limit on text length for 'Pasting as Image' function

Open ghost opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Feature Description

Hello Snipaste team,

Firstly, I would like to say thank you for your hard work on Snipaste, it's a fantastic tool. I particularly appreciate the 'Pasting as Image' feature, which not only allows me to quickly paste clipboard images onto the screen, but also to convert text or tables into images.

However, I've encountered an issue when my clipboard contains a large amount of text. If I accidentally press the 'Paste as Image' hotkey, Snipaste begins to process this request and it results in a substantial spike in memory usage, sometimes even causing my system to slow down or become unresponsive.

To mitigate this, I'd like to suggest a new feature or modification: It would be really useful if there was an option to set a limit on the length of text that Snipaste will attempt to convert to an image. If the clipboard contents exceed this limit, Snipaste should refuse the 'Paste as Image' request and possibly show a warning or notification to the user.

This would prevent unintentional large scale memory consumption and enhance the overall user experience.

Thank you for considering my suggestion, and I look forward to seeing how Snipaste continues to evolve.

I can set a default limit (customizable) on the text length. When user requests to paste a long text, a confirm dialog will show up. Is that ok for you?
