Auto-fill issues

Open luckkmaxx opened this issue 2 years ago • 12 comments

Im using KeePassDX app to manage my passwords. It has an auto-fill feature wich works well in other browsers but not here. When I tap in the suggested data to be filled in a login page, the fields keeps blank. This is fixed if I close and restart Fulguris. Then in the recovered login tab, Im able to fill with suggested data with no problem. Then immediatelly I open a new tab with the same login page, and again the fields are not being filled by tapping the suggested data by keepassDX. Wich need a new app restart to be fixed.

Other issue maybe related is that cannot copy pieces of code when for example here in github we see the clipboard button to quickly copy the posted code.

Clipboard issues are not related to auto-fill no. See #343 and #400

I'm using KeePassDX as well, and so far I never had any auto-fill issues. So maybe this is related to specific Android versions? Or maybe only occurs on some websites?

Now the KeePassDX suggestions are showing well but tapping on any login suggestion doesnt fill the fields, they stays blank. Tried in websites with trusted certificates too. Any other browser works as expected.

Same issue here with Passman. In other browsers autofill works as aspected.

Can anyone confirm this is working in DuckDuckGo browser?

Slion avatar Feb 15 '24 12:02 Slion

Here is works with Fennec and FOSS Browser and NOT with Fulguris, DuckDuckGo and Privacy browser (all from F-Droid).

Fulguris, DDG and PB are all using WebView so it makes sense that none are working.

Do we know which engines are Fennec and FOSS using?

Slion avatar Feb 15 '24 14:02 Slion

Fennec is Firefox (more or less). FOSS Browser appears to use WebView, judging from 5 MB package size.

Referring to the firefox-android repo, Fennec uses GeckoView:

Fenix (internal codename) is the all-new Firefox for Android browser, based on GeckoView and Mozilla Android Components.

Referring to the FOSS BROWSER FAQ, FOSS Browser uses WebView:

[...] It's a simple Android browser based on webview. [...]

Now that is indeed interesting. @SIRSteiner Can you confirm it works with FOSS Browser? If that's indeed the case it means we should be able to get it to work with Fulguris too.
