Are you looking to take your first steps in the game industry? Insomniac Games is looking for an Associate Gameplay Programmer to help us build compelling gameplay systems. We need gameplay programmers to help create engaging combat, traversal and progression systems, and work closely with designers, animators and artists to bring gameplay mechanics to life. In this role, the Associate Gameplay Programmer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining smaller-scoped features for a single game. You will also be responsible for the quality of code and player experience within sphere of ownership on a particular title.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Implements smaller scoped gameplay features given well-defined goals and design specifications. Optimizes run-time performance of owned features. Delivers code that impacts smaller-scoped, self-contained features of a single game. Collaborates with project team peers across disciplines to solve creative and technical problems within constraints. Delivers code that is readable, functional, adheres to standards and meets or exceeds requirements. Provides estimates for assigned tasks and regularly updates team on task status. Completes work by assigned due date. Receives and acts on feedback as directed by Leads, Managers and Director, Gameplay. Continuously expands knowledge of technological developments in the game industry. Other duties may be assigned. Computer Skills:

Proficient with C++ programming language and manual memory management techniques. Ability to adhere to the prevalent coding style and practices, including source control standards. Understanding of procedural and object-oriented programming paradigms. Desired: proficiency in a scripting language (Python, Perl, JavaScript, as applicable). Familiarity with commercial content creation packages (Maya, and 3DS Max, as applicable).
