MacOS Loading New SEB Settings Not Allowed!" ➞ How to QUIT other exams?
I have a Moodle quiz configured as "YES – Configure manually" for SEB. When I try to run it as a student, I get the popup message Loading New SEB Settings Not Allowed! – SEB is already running in exam mode and it is not allowed to interrupt this by starting another exam. Finish the exam and quit SEB before starting another exam.
The problem is that there is not an open exam. Steps to reproduce:
- Install SEB (on macOS).
- Open Moodle in regular browser and navigate to the quiz.
- Click on "Start Safe Exam Browser". SEB then opens. --We have the seb configuration file available for download from our website and we link it on the quiz start page, instructing them to download the configuration file.
- Log into Moodle with credentials.
Then the popup message occurs. My question thus is: How can I see the other supposedly open exam and/or quit it such that I can start a new one?
We are using the exact same process for windows, with no issues.
SEB version: 3.0 for macOS Moodle version: 3.11.5
If I understand your steps to reproduce correctly, you're trying to let users load another SEB configuration file after Moodle already configured SEB for the quiz (this is what happens when the "Start Safe Exam Browser" button in a Moodle quiz is clicked and the quiz is configured as "YES – Configure manually"). You cannot reconfigure SEB if SEB is running in exam mode (opened a config file saved with the option "starting an exam") or with local client settings in secure mode (a quit password is set in client settings), unless you're using the settings "Allow reconfiguring secure/exam session" and "Reconfiguring URL" correctly (see Exam settings pane). As these settings are not set when using the Moodle "YES – Configure manually" quiz SEB mode, I don't believe this same setup/process works in the Windows version, but not not in the Mac version as you mentioned (it should work exactly the same in the current Windows, Mac and iOS versions).
Please check and if you still find that it works in the Windows version (which version exactly?) and not in SEB 3.0 for macOS, then provide me with a testing access to such a quiz, so I can reproduce it. But first try it also with the release candidate version of SEB 3.1 for macOS, for the download see the Releases section of the seb-mac repository.
