Gifs should not loop endlessly

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. With endlessly looping gifs, posting even one or several gifs in a channel becomes really annoying really fast.

Describe the solution you'd like I would suggest to implement "play on hover". Optionally, a newly posted gif could loop a short interval (e.g. 3-5 loops) and then go into "play on hover".

Describe alternatives you've considered "play on click" would also be an option of course. Anything so that gifs don't loop endlessly!

Good idea! Few gifs creates a moderate client load in our deployment.

They should loop endlessly by default. I'm all for an option to disable this, though.

Im a big fan of how discord handles this, (gifs loop endlessly but pause when you unfocus the web browser)
