Gif insert from keyboard

  • Your Rocket.Chat.Android app version: latest

  • Your Rocket.Chat server version: 0.60.3

  • Device model (or emulator) you're running with: Pixel fully updated

  • Steps to reproduce: Use google keyboard and try to insert gif.

Also experiencing this.

Would be nice to see this added as it has been one of the first things the users of our RocketChat server have noticed and led to an overall sense that Rocket.chat is not "polished".

This is obviously not a priority, but can anyone explain the technical reason this feature doesn't exist? Slack, GroupMe, etc etc have had this forever.

@mjtechguy exactly because it's not a priority. It requires some critical changes on how the native TextInput works. That said, we don't have enough hands to work on that right now, so we're open to review PRs from the community.
