Three different issues

Open ittrgrey opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

1.) New materials are clamped to certain colours - the result is that the visual appearance of games is made a lot darker and a lot stricter towards clamping in a single colour (see grass and wood for an example). This should be reverted to avoid messing up colours in games.

2.) We also need better backwards compatibility - we can't afford for all the old games to degrade even further by becoming pitch black, something which was only previously avoided by the addition of Compatibility lighting mode in 2019. Something similar to retain support for the existing materials should be done here, too.

3.) Studs and other SurfaceTypes don't work and appear on Plastic properly on higher graphics quality levels. They still appear as intended on quality levels 1-4. UPDATE: They no longer appear at all on Quality Level 5 (3 ingame) and above. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE SURFACETYPES, DEVELOPERS DEPEND ON THEM AS A SCALE OF MEASURE

4.) Plastic as a whole looks broken on anything that isn't a regular "Block" BasePart. FIXED

5.) Texture objects are broken on cylinders and ignore StudsPerTileU and StudsPerTileV. FIXED

The readme clearly says to post feedback on the DevForum, so expect this issue to be ignored or closed.

UPDATE

  • Problems 4 and 5 are fixed and problem 1 is being worked on, as per the Developer Forum update.
  • Problem 3 is now worse than it previously was - instead of showing up really fuzzy, SurfaceTypes do not appear at all on Quality Level 5 and above (3 and above ingame).
