please provide better documentation for authoritative snmp support
Hello, a user in #powerdns was asking about snmp support in auth and the website just says it is supported without further details:
https://www.powerdns.com/auth.html
Common to all PowerDNS products: ...
- SNMP statistics bridge (read only)
It appears this may not be true, perhaps this could be removed from the webpage? There may be more that need scrubbing, but this bug was originally about how little documentation I could find, so it might not be a huge deal...
Thanks
< ottom> auth does *not* support snmp
Various external scripts for turning our metrics into SNMP are floating around the Internet. We should point to at least one of them in our docs.
@Habbie: I'm happy to modify the website, but a quick search for an snmp script for auth did not turn up anything. Any hint?
I think it used to live on the Cacti forums..
I'll have a look soon, otherwise we'll remove it from the website.
https://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=276051#p276051 ?
Is that good enough to link to it from https://www.powerdns.com/auth.html ? I'd rather push people to Prometheus, as I did that in the proposed website PR.
Valid question - I don't think we want to support a third party script. Pushing to Prometheus makes more sense to me.
Fixed on website.
