'determinate' paper-spinner?

Open dsschnau opened this issue 9 years ago • 6 comments

Hi,

Just wondering if there are plans to add a determinate feature to the paper-spinner similar to paper-progress.

The 'Types of Indicators' section in the material design spec specifys how a determinate spinner would behave.

Hi @dsschnau

We are aware of the specifications for a determinate spinner, but we currently don't have one. This is something we may look at adding in the future. Thanks.

Okay, thanks for the info!

I'd love to have this too, fwiw.

I may take a stab at this. My current solution is really bloated and causing other issues, thanks IE 🙄...

@keanulee I just want to double-check the target browser support before getting started. Also a few questions,

I was thinking an indeterminiate attribute on the paper-spinner to closer match how spec handles progress? Or should we just assume no value is indeterminate like the browser handles it?

I'm assuming target hybrid and maintain backwards compatibility.

We can't break the API, so making the API opt-in indeterminate wouldn't be possible. I would suggest forking the element for this feature.

I planned on forking to submit anyways. I think I can make it backwards compatible so I will take a shot and submit for you to take a look!
