Filters: Add around option to location map

What feature would you like to see added?

If possible, add an option to specify a point and radius

For point, select by either (mostly existing features)

  • searching place; and/or
  • clicking on the location map in the filter page; and/or
  • specifying coordinates (in various formats); and/or
  • specifying a node or from a changeset page from a node (or way/changeset centroid)
  • specifying from home location (which could be set similarly with any of the above and/or from osm user preferences)

For radius, select by either

  • providing preset, ie. three or four, options (of which one might be set by default); and/or
  • manually inputting distance (and inputting or providing option for prefered unit); and/or
  • from clicking on the location map, dragging in a given direction and letting loose (or alternatively clicking a second time but this would likely be reserved for replacing the location)

additionally, it could be added as parameters in the API.

Why would this be useful to you or other users?

Allow users to more easily specify a search area, ie. if they don't know the name(, coordinates), or similarly to searching by name, if they don't want to look for it manually on the map, and/or only need a rough area of interest.

Rough areas of interest may approximately coincide with travel times, which may be useful for (preparing) surveying and tracking mapathons lacking hashtags or similar(, or tracking vandalism from regular surveying, but this is uncommon and survey might be over larger distance)

Other services already allowing around paramater; i.e. OSMCal (only exposed in API, not intended for too many calls)
