hospitaladmitoffset bigger than 0
Hi, I was wondering why about 0.6% of the patients has hospitaladmitoffset > 0. Given that hospitaladmitoffset is the number of minutes from unit admit time that the patient was admitted to the hospital, how it is possible that a patient would admit the unit after being admitted to hospital? Thanks a lot! Dan
I don't know the specific answer to your question, but in my experience, small discrepancies can be administrative, and I would ignore these; however, there are some large positive offsets.
Among the larger positive hospitaladmitoffsets, I couldn't find anything obvious. They do appear to happen more often in patients admitted via the ED and SDU, but not to the extent I think this is the (only) cause. EDs and SDUs do add some quirks to the stays/admission times.
