Benchmark?

Open guppy42 opened this issue 8 years ago • 1 comments

Is there anyway to benchmark or get an objective read of the FPS ? I've tried glxosd and that doesn't work.

Reason I ask is I compiled the launcher on a vagrant box against the mesa driver, to my surprise the resulting binary not only ran on my host box it ran seemingly no slower than the build I did on my host box (build against nvidias drivers) that required me to symlink libraries and what not.

I suspect that mesa automagically finds the best EGL/GLES provider on the system ( much like it does for openCL ) - if that is the case the the build procedure can be simplified quite a bit.

The binary compiles dynamically against the OpenGL ES binary, so it'll pick whatever is available on the system.

You probably could add a simple FPS counter to the code (the launcher calls into MCPE to render a frame, MCPE handles the drawing and sleeping between frames so the FPS never gets about 60).
