install guide?
Can you provide a little instruction on installing applesmc_t2?
I built applesmc_t2_kmod.ko and copied it to /lib/modules/5.4.8-1-mbp/extramodules but if I modprobe it I get the error:
sudo modprobe applesmc_t2_kmod
modprobe: FATAL: Module applesmc_t2 not found in directory /lib/modules/5.4.8-1-mbp
I tried copying it to the /lib/modules/5.4.8-1-mbp directory but it still gives the same issue.
You have to use insmod afaik (then give it the path to the module), not modprobe, you could probably indeed copy it somewhere for the kernel to find it with modprobe, but to be honest, I'm not sure where.
When I use insmod I get the following error:
sudo insmod applesmc_t2_kmod.ko
insmod: ERROR: could not insert module applesmc_t2_kmod.ko: Device or resource busy
Is there something else I need to do? I have applesmc blacklisted already. I'm assuming I shouldn't be using applesmc and applesmc_t2?
post dmesg?
Oh wait, right, you'll need to blacklist the original apple-hid.
If I blacklist hid_apple the keyboard stops working and I have to use a USB keyboard.
If I then try to load the build version from this repo, it insmod's ok but I still get no keyboard. And then trying to insmod applesmc_t2 gives "Driver applesmc is already registered". I have both hid_apple and applesmc blacklisted and tried to insert them directly.
edit: lsmod shows neither hid_apple or applesmc as being loaded on boot. I can manually insmod your hid_apple but not applesmc.
Make sure applesmc got blacklisted properly, good chance it's built into your repo and then blacklisting will have no effect.
