Question on usage of RGB2HDMI adapter

Hello, I have got three questions. I own an Amiga 1200 built into a Mikronik tower case, Zorro2 expansion board and video slot adapter installed, so that it candle GFX boards. I have a Peggy plus Mpeg decoder card in that slot, but I rarely use it.

  1. Does your RGBtoHDMI adapter also convert AGA screenmodes like DblPAL correctly to HDMI? My WB 3.1 is running in my prefered DblPAL mode while games started with WHDload will switch back to PAL mode. PAL is also used for boot-menu and while booting. I already own an industrial LCD monitor (VGA slot) that can handle all Amiga screemodes, but it does have a nasty unsharp or blur-effect with horizontally scrolling games. Or as soon as I move the warrior to the left or right, e.g. in the game Turrican. So, my idea is to try out your RGBtoHDMI adapter with a standard LCD monitor or TV with HDMI input. I have discovered it ready to use on Ebay, but the seller Sordan electronic deactivated sending messages/questions.

  2. Did you try out your adapter with A500+ ECS productivity modes?

  3. Can a wrong Amiga screenmode e.g. DblPal, Super72 or VGA damage your RBGtoHDMI adapter?

I say thanks for your reply in advance.

Greetings, slappy32

Hello! I will try to answer them as best I can.

  1. No, it will never be able to support AGA modes. Even if the CPLD was switched to one that would take the extra video data lines, the Pi does not have enough IO pins to take it. This means it would need to be multiplexed and the Pi's GPIO is not fast enough to do multiplexing of video data. That being said, the PiStorm project has a sub-project in development that can a) do AGA RGBtoHDMI itself, without a Pi or b) inject the AGA data to a Pi via the camera port, which is intended to be used to mix with the RTG for PiStorm.
  2. Whilst I haven't tried it, the latest beta supports ECS modes: https://github.com/IanSB/RGBtoHDMI/releases
  3. No, it won't damage it, if it is not supported then it just won't be able to lock on to the picture properly.

Hope that helps.
