Clarification on the necessity of Diode D9 in the circuit

Open vybhav-nag opened this issue 8 months ago • 1 comments

I was reviewing the BMS-C1 circuit diagram, and I noticed the presence of Diode D9. According to the IC datasheet, this component does not seem to be required. The datasheet specifies that the IC has built-in diode, making the external diode unnecessary in typical applications.

Could you please clarify the purpose of Diode D9 in this design? Is it necessary, and if so, what specific function does it serve in this context?

Good spot. I'm not exactly sure anymore. We used to have a different (lower abs. max voltage) buck converter because the LMR38010 was not available at the time we made the design (chip crisis). Maybe I had some alternative part in mind when doing the most recent version of the schematic, which had the same pinout, but required a diode.

Looks like we could/should get rid of the diode.
