@kmoschcau I'd be willing to try and help with this, but as the current state is broken, and this is now such a huge PR, it's difficult to be able to contribute.

Perhaps you could get the current good changes merged as a stable base on which to progress?

Hi and thanks for the interested in helping out. But merging any of this right now is not going to be possible at all. This is because of the nature of this changed. Documents are the fundamental building block of everything in foundry. And since they include the brunt of this change, anything that remotely touches documents will remain broken until we are through with this change.

Contributing is still going to be possible though, just as @kgar is already doing. Just target this branch instead of the main branch.
