I would not differentiate between any of the types of pipelines, I would probably just prompt save before all kinds of pipeline runs.

Looks like it would be about 30-40 minutes of work. Brandon already created and AutoSavePrompt component for the export functionality it would just need to be imported into the Run pipeline and triggered to check if there are outstanding saves and it will ask you before you run the pipeline.
