doesn't work on HDD SteamLibrary folder only on SSDs

Since version 3.0 I cannot use the tool to compress folders inside the E:\SteamLibrary folder on my HDD, it always crashes after I pick the folder when it's in the analysing process, no matter how many files in the folder or the size of the folder. Everything outside SteamLibrary does work on my HDD (E:).

I cannot explain this behaviour, also throughout the fact that the program doesn't give any feedback what its problem is. Probably related to #254

Can you check Event Viewer to see what the error is?

I was digging around in the SteamLibrary folder of my E: drive and I found that the libraryfolder.vdf file had the wrong path to steam in the "launcher" key. I changed that to the correct one and it did nothing. Then I went ahead and looked more into it, removed all the *.acf-files, and now it works... Looked into all of these files and some of them also had the wrong path in "LauncherPath". I fixed these by changing them to the correct path and now everything seems to work.

But on that occasion the question came to me, if and why is CompactGUI scanning *.acf-files which are not related to the game I actually try to compress? And why is it crashing when the path is wrong?

ComapctGUI has to go through all the ACF files to verify which game you're trying to compress. This does mean it assumes your Steam library isn't corrupted, but to be fair the launcher path directory shouldn't matter in the ACF file

I had a similar problem. Try temporarily moving the folder somewhere else on the hard drive and compressing it. And if that doesnt work try compressing each subfolder individually. You might have to move some of them temporarily as well.
