No, HomeKit devices cannot initiate a connection to the Home App. The connection is not established and controlled by the Home App only or a Home Hub.

As noted above, without a Home Hub, it's not really possible to diagnose the issues. You should NOT be getting any WiFi disconnects - that would be a separate problem...
