LFC131 Certificate of Completion expires after 1 year
@greenhsu123 received a notification that her LF Green Software Practitioner certificate will expire shortly. I've spoken to the LF and the system is currently configured so certificates expire after 1 year.
They are able to extend the expiry time but this will only be valid for newly issued certificates of completion, after the expiration setting is updated. It will not apply to already issued certificates of completion. The Credly digital badge has no expiration date.
I've asked that they extend the expiry to 2 years.
Got it, thanks for finding out! I wonder if we should let people who currently have certified about the new info?
LF have updated the expiry - "I have updated the expiration date for the certificate of completion to 732 days. All newly issued certificates will be valid for 2 years."
@greenhsu123 further questions have come up about the expiry as it is causing confusion within Member Orgs especially around reporting and whether re-certification is required.
Should we have an expiry at all? Is this something we should discuss at the CWG?
Maybe 5 years or 10? Definitely not 1!

Should we not have expiry till another major update (which we might not have anyhow)?
Meeting: no objection. Happy to proceed with no expiry till next major updated.
