Fingerprint Unlock Available at Lockscreen Despite Being Enabled Only for Apps

Open inferenceus opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

On Pixel 6, after disabling the setting for fingerprint unlock in Settings > Security > Fingerprints for allowing fingerprints to unlock the lockscreen, making only apps able to be unlocked using fingerprint, fingerprint is still able to be used to unlock the lockscreen. This is occurring for me in a secondary user profile with 1 fingerprint registered. Fully reproducible on my device after every device restart.

Just installed latest GrapheneOS stable release 2022090400, and issue still occurs.

Immediately after BFU of secondary user profile, lock the phone; fingerprint will be available on lockscreen.

@inferenceus Are you sure you disabled it for your secondary profile? I tried it works for me.

You have to disable fingerprint unlock at lockscreen for every profile you want this setting for. If you only set it for the main profile it will only prevent fingerprint unlocking for the main profile.

It is disabled in all user profiles, including the affected one. Issue still persists.

Unable to reproduce. We have rewritten our UDFPS since this was posted + QPR1 likely has solved this, going to assume solved.

Issue still reproducible on Pixel 6 (oriole) as of 2023-02-25. Running GrapheneOS version 2023021000.

While I am unable to force this issue to occur, it happens at random intervals, seemingly more so after a device reboot and first unlock of the user profile with the fingerprint unlock for apps enabled (but not lockscreen). The fingerprint symbol appears at the bottom centre of the display and the lockscreen is able to be unlocked.

Issue still exists on Pixel 5 after updating to latest build (2023022300) in the same manner as inferenceus described within a secondary profile. To reapply the setting fresh, I toggled the setting from off to on then off again, which immediately fixed the issue, but then returned after rebooting.

Issue still persists as of today on Pixel 7 Pro with latest build (20230505).
