no function in self host gitbook

I installed this plugin but didn't see the + symbol in the right side as official gitbook Can it be used in self host gitbook?

The feature only works if you host your book on gitbook.com. In the Settings page, scroll down to Features, Inline Comments should be enabled.

It would be a great if we see this feature in self hosted gitbook. Is there any hope? I'm planning to use gitbook for self hosted software requirements artifacts. Confluence must die!

Thanks for these links! In my case it needs something more advanced. I would like to connect each comment to certain git tag and something like requirement id, and then to have ability of fetching comments by tags and ids.
