Ideas and suggestions for next edition
Based on the questions of the students I think that in the next edition we should show:
- an example with a shp files. Maybe one from GADM (its licence says "The data are freely available for academic use.").
- how to work with the user-dir?
- the DCW-collections.
- how to add a north and scale (basemap -Td and -L).
- add transparency (-t)
Other suggestions to discuss:
- Add legends?
- how to work with makecpt ?
- how to add text on the map (gmt text)?
Also I think that we maybe show how to project earthquakes on a profile in order to get something like this. It is more advanced but it is an UNAVCO course and I think that could be usefull for many students.
