2.13 Inch E-Ink Display pHAT - VCC on pin 2, not pin 1

I cut off pins 2 to 10 so I could fit a bme680 on my Pi Zero. After lots of investigation it turns out VCC for the 2.13 Inch E-Ink Display pHAT is not on pin1 of the 40 pin connector, but on pin 2. https://pinout.xyz/pinout/213_inch_e_paper_phat

I'm a bit surprised that it is wrong on the waveshare page too: https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/2.13inch_e-Paper_HAT

Yikes! Indeed it looks like close observation of their schematic confirms this: https://www.waveshare.com/w/upload/5/57/2.13inch_e-Paper_HAT_Schematic.pdf

RPI_5V -> VCC_INT -> VCC -> 3.3 vreg -> 3V3

Looks like this is a bonus feature to conserve power by giving control over the display's supply... or maybe to prevent hot-plug brownout.

I'm a day late and a dollar short here, but you could probably bridge 3v3 over to the vreg in your case.

if I'm reading them correctly, older schematics for the same board have no VCC enable, and do indeed directly use the Pi's 3v3 supply - https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/File:2.13inch_e-Paper_HAT_Schematic.pdf
