[DX] Base templates

Open merk opened this issue 11 years ago • 2 comments

Our base templates are pretty much just there as a starting point, but the markup we provide doesnt give anyone a 'quick start' - there is an amount of non trivial work for a beginner to style the FOSUserBundle pages.

Is there any point to improving (or providing new) templates to have a more styled starting point?

IMO, it does not make sense. You will want to have the pages looking like your app, meaning you should probably overwrite the FOSUserBundle::layout.html.twig template with a template extending your own layout and defining the block fos_user_content.

We will never be able to provide a base layout fitting with the apps integrating FOSUserBundle anyway

I share the same opinion mostly, there isnt any easy way of adding anything without being more specific. Just thinking out loud (especially since seeing a form theme being considered for bootstrap), that maybe we could provide some templates that people could copy and paste as a documentation page?

It is all about making it easier to get started with symfony2, yes?
