Doesn't work with NW.js

Just loading the library into a NW.js application crashes NW.js. I've tested on NW.js 40.1 on a macOS 10.14.6.

I'm not going to fix this, but if someone wants to submit a fix with a test - or at least a clear step by step plan of how to test it, I will accept a PR.
