BUG: Translation. Singular/Plural

Open dracp opened this issue 1 year ago • 6 comments

FL Portable v1.18.0.8771

I understand that there is an error in linking the translation string “Keyboard Shortcut” (singular) from the Configuration sidebar options list to the translation string “Keyboard Shortcut” (singular) from the existing box in the “Custom Query Keyboard Shortcuts” option.

You should link the translation string “Keyboard shortcuts” (plural) from the list of options in the Configuration sidebar with the translation string “Keyboard shortcuts” (plural) from the main title of its corresponding sheet.

In the same way you should unlink the translation string “Plugin” (singular) from the list of options in the Settings sidebar with the translation string “Plugin” (singular) from the options box in the search bar.

In this case, you should link the translation string “Plugins” (plural) of the main title of its corresponding sheet with the translation string “Plugins” (plural) of the option list of the Configuration sidebar.

In general you should link the translation string of the Configuration sidebar options list to the translation string of the heading title of its corresponding sheet.

Check my understanding.

  • Hotkey -> Hotkeys / Plugin -> Plugins (in sidebar)
  • Anything in other locations should not be affected. It should only apply to the sidebar.

Right?

Sorry for the delay. Yes. It only affects the strings in the sidebar. But the problem at present is that the same string affects two terms located in different places, hence if it is resolved in one place it sometimes affects the same term in another different place and where in one it should be singular and in the other plural is when the inconsistency appears. That is why I indicated that in case of linking the translation strings in the sidebar with other terms in the application, they should be linked to the header of the corresponding page. Or ultimately set up separate translation strings for the sidebar terms “Plugins” and “Hotkey Shortcuts” (plural).
