Unable to disable the popup block 'feature'

Open synaeus888 opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

The problem begins when I try to click on a link. For example here:

https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?t=12123

I get 'Centaury has prevented this site from opening a pop-up window', so I click on 'preferences' and get a popup where 'allow popups for this site' is grayed out. I click on 'edit pop-up blocker options', click 'allow' and click 'save changes'. I try to click on the link, and I am back where I started...no change.

I go to the three lines icon 'open menu', where I tried clicking preferences>content>unchecking block pop-up windows. It is checked again the next time I go back. I tried changing the integer at dom.popup_allowed_events in about:config. It resets to blank as soon as I exit.

I'm tired of fooling with it. How do I permanently and completely disable the embedded pop-up block in Centaury?

That does not trigger popup blocker. So i test on https://webbrowsertools.com/popup-blocker/ #5 triggers blocker, uncheck and no block.

You are getting something I am not getting. Go through the links I originally gave, and see if the result is reproducible. I went to webbrowsertools. I clicked Method #2, and I did indeed get the yellow band popup saying 'Centaury prevented this site from opening...'. As usual, the 'Allow popups for webbrowsertools' is grayed out. As usual, the 'Edit pop-up options' is useless. I click 'allow', click 'save changes', return to webbrowsertools, click Method #2, and I am right back to where I started....a neverending circle.

Look, this is not complicated. I want to completely and permanently disable/nuke the onboard popup blocker embedded in Centaury/PaleMoon. I do not need it. I do not want it, and I am not willing to coexist with it. Either there is a way to eliminate it, or there is not. If it can be stopped via about:config, just tell me the steps to make it happen. If it cannot be stopped, just say so, and I will jettison Centaury.

I doublechecked it all works as intended for me, you may have an error on your side, make clean install.

I want to completely and permanently disable/nuke the onboard popup blocker

Disable it globally then, go to the preferences, then content, uncheck 'Block pop-up windows'
