Any possible candidates? which models could be modded?

There is the SMA Q3, which has some discussion over on hackaday - but no plans AFAIK of porting this firmware.

Do you have a specific model in mind? One has to always check the exact hardware, as there is a wide variety of platforms.

Alright, yeah I was thinking maybe the M3 since it has a GPS but I see the Q3 also has it, my bad didn't find that project page before and the deets on SMA page are well, scarce.

BTW I see the Nordic nRF52DK board mentioned in that project page, is itnecessary to flash the firmware on the Q3? or I can do it with the OTA uploader like on the Q2?
