Disconnecting frequently, "Failed getting Registration Token"

I installed this plugin recently and it works great for the most part, but every so often (at least several times per day) it'll disconnect Skype and disable the account, usually forcing me to restart pidgin to get back into the group chat I use it for. Here's a log when it occurs, if that helps.

@Jocosity try login on https://web.skype.com/, enter CAPTCHA and then try skypeweb again.

I tried logging in in my browser, but it didn't give me a captcha. I'll see if the problem still occurs anyways. Edit: The problem is still going.

I see this "Failed getting Registration Token" error constantly now. No longer able to connect with Skype via this plug-in. I also can log in to the Skype site without issue, or being presented with a captcha.

It happens to me as well. While I usually just need to restart pidgin to get it to work, it's a bit of a pain when in the middle of a serious conversation. Like @Jocosity , I don't get a captcha in the web version. Just restarting pidgin fixes it (but disabling/re-enabling the plugin without restart doesn't). Happens around 3 times per day at random times, always when actively using skype (never seems to happen while idle)

I can't force it to happen, it just happens randomly. If I catch it and I happen to not be in the middle of a conversation so I can turn on debugging, I will.

I'm having this issue as well. I've tried to restart Pidgin and still not working. How do I enable debugging so I can provide a log file?

Yes, still happens randomly on the same circumstances, always when a message goes out after a couple random hours.

Similar here on Linux. Suddenly stopped working this morning. Was working on Friday. Pidgin version 2.10.12 (was the same w/ 2.10.11). Skype4Web pulled this morning (was the same w/ 1.1 and some pre-1.0 (git:cf7f51e6024e18397b2f80ed33c5c6f73f1df777))

Update: Interestingly enough this failure makes me unavailable on web.skype.com. Meanwhile skype app works and skype on android works as well. client-s.gateway.messenger.live.com looks unavailable.

Thought I would comment to say I've had this error for 1-2 months ever since I started using the plugin via Bitlbee. It used to happen at least once a day, either when I was idle or active. All I had to do was type "account skypeweb on" every time, and it would reconnect instantly. However that rendered all group chats unusable until someone spoke next, which would pop up another channel for it.

I basically coded a script that responds to that error and sends the reconnect command, which made me reconnect almost instantly. Except today, I'm unable to connect at all. Web.skype.com working and Skype app working as well. I'm running Bitlbee on Ubuntu 15.10.

I believe this happens due to new captcha confirmations on web.skype.com Pidgin fails to connect and answer page shows "We need to double-check your details. Please review this page and subm it it again."

I did login successfully through web browser too,but pidgin fails to connect nevertheless. Looks like they rolled out new captcha and skypeweb only recognizes recaptcha https://github.com/EionRobb/skype4pidgin/blob/master/skypeweb/skypeweb_login.c#L40

In my case I've got no captcha as well. However web.skype.com states I'm 'Not available' for some time. However If I leave it running, it eventually connects. Looking at firebug shows the same problem: failure to connect to client-s.gateway.messenger.live.com:443 for a while and success then.

Web.skype.com lets me login but it takes a good 10 seconds on the "loading" page. After that, I'm simply "Not available" and sending messages fails, and it does not give me up to date messages of my contacts.

having this issue, too. But now, even after pidgin restart, I cant connect to skype, always getting "Failed getting Registration Token" double checked password, even changed it to a new one on the website.

It might be problem on API itself, I have no contacts online with web.skype portal but with Android App I have. So my money on broken api.

Same symptoms here (skypeweb through bitlbee), as a completely random disconnect after hours (<24) of stable connection. Looks like a server-side issue to me as well. [5 minutes later] And another disconnect, only 4 minutes after a successful login. Strange...

Just for reference, the status URL for the skype network is http://heartbeat.skype.com/ and there is a current issue (Jan 19, 2016) with skype chat on web clients:

We are currently experiencing issues with Skype chats on web clients (web.skype.com, onedrive.com and outlook.com).

Affected users can login, but unable to send/receive chat messages or see latest history

Our engineers are working hard to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Funny, now I cannot even login anymore. Error message stays the same. (Personal update Jan 20: everything is back to normal. Login possible, connection stable. Watching heartbeat for signs of trouble...)
