use pdf links for riptutorial
We have a few resources from riptutorial.com
We accepted a few with the credit " Compiled from StackOverflow Documentation"; it seemed similar to goalkicker which is a similar idea but IIRC reasonable for what it was.
I had a closer look at one of these, and I found it was mostly an unusable ad-infested content farm
Should we keep these or remove them?
- Aprendizaje TypeScript - riptutorial (PDF)
- Aprendizaje TypeScript - riptutorial (PDF)
- Aprendizaje Angular - riptutorial (PDF)

- Aprendizaje Angular 2 - riptutorial (PDF)

- Learning Dart (PDF)
- Learning graphqL (PDF)
- Learning Java Language - Compiled from StackOverflow Documentation (PDF)

I’d say the PDFs should be acceptable as it follows the fundamental principles and guidelines of the usual content that’s submitted in this repository (at least from first glance with the given examples). Additionally, I’d recommend making further contributing guideline changes on websites that are solely/mainly designed for ad-farming. It really doesn’t fit in with the repository’s professionalism, but drawing the line to what can be considered as “ad-farming” can be somewhat subjective. My personal recommendation would be to avoid adding HTML tutorials of the website.
My two pennies...
- HTML :-1:
- PDF :+1:
Goalkicker
- Website: Several G.Ads related with books buying.
- Pdfs: has minimum references to website
Riptutorial
- Searching for advertisers in a website section with 6 banner/affiliate types. USA & India are the hot target.
- No ads are shown to me 🤔 (maybe due to decline cookies)
- PDFs. Several links mentioning
read this topic on the website(most of that html pages with few content... "ad-farming" ???) - PDF accepts a variety of languages:
topic-locale.pdf. E.g.:- English: https://riptutorial.com/Download/angular-2.pdf
- Spanish: https://riptutorial.com/Download/angular-2-es.pdf
- if accepted... authoring should be
Free unaffiliated eBook created from StackOverflow contributorsas seen in the front book cover ?? - There are topics not covered by Goalkicker, although with few chapters each one.
Let's compare some resources about a big topic, (e.g. java) and decide.
Of course better be focussed in these free resources (mostly books) without any ads in sources
I will take care about it.
No ads showed for me either, not sure why. I assumed it was some configuration I did on my browser that I forgot about or something.
None of the pdfs I tried to download from one book downloaded. Not sure what was going on there.

also insterstial ads every few clicks.
Ah, I didn't think it would be that bad. I'd further push for changes to remove riptutorials.

What if you replaced the link to the page with the direct link to the pdf instead? It would solve the problem of ads.

The PDF has several links to these pages #6153 (comment). Download one 😉
I know but the books are very interesting and it's a shame not to include them. Maybe you could put a notice next to the link saying that there are numerous advertisements on the page....
could someone post a "good" pdf link so we can be talking about the same thing?
