the App Author was publically thinking about doing that.

This is not only annoying behavior. It also gets you banned for several minutes when you try to fetch several thousand posts at once. Also I don't need to catchup a whole week of posts I won't ever read.

This is the primary reason I came here looking for a bug/feature request on this. I use Fast Refresh to be able to get into the app more quickly, but then I feel like often I have to read backwards in time to follow threads. I'd love to have a middle ground, where the app doesn't fetch everything, but uses Fast Refresh to only fetch the last X posts.

For the 2.0 this is the new default behaviour. The fast refresh option has been removed. It'll fetch 40 new posts and insert a gap that you can expand if necessary.

Sweet! Good to know - I actually started poking through the code last night to see about making a PR for this myself. Nice to see it's already on the way. Thanks!
