Disclose funding

Open martinheidegger opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

The homepage states that @SachaG is the main organizer of this survey, but it doesn't give any insight on the financial compensation (or lack thereof) is received for this data. I think it may be a good idea to disclose the relationship. If this is done as a pure OSS effort it may be a good idea to activate Github Sponsoring or create a OpenCollective organization to make it sustainable?

Good point. I addressed it here for the CSS survey: https://2021.stateofcss.com/en-US/about

Since it can vary on a survey-per-survey basis I'm not sure how to address it on the homepage, but I'll think about adding a FAQ or something.

Typically any data researcher also discloses their affiliations outside of the project context. I.e. a survey at a university discloses the employment at the university as well as funding for the project in question.
