As your example shows, HTML content in the image alternate text region can be removed by the parser and so I think it is reasonable for markdownlint to warn about...
Toggling the "HTML" checkbox on that demo page opt into and out of this removal behavior. Skimming the CommonMark specification, it's not clear to me that this scenario is directly...
Closing this based on my Sept 10 example and lack of agreement in the comments about whether this is reasonable.
More information, please. Are you reporting that the GitHub web site does not render at all in Chrome? Which version? What URL?
This URL loads and renders fine for me in Chrome: https://github.com/DavidAnson/markdownlint/blob/main/doc/Rules.md I suspect a browser extension on your side is breaking something.
Sounds very similar to: https://github.com/DavidAnson/vscode-markdownlint/issues/159 I’ll have a look, but I may not be able to coax the right behavior out of VS Code.
@john-corcoran, your version of Code is fairly old. Do you see the same problem on a recent version? @carlAlex, you don't provide the Code version, but I'm guessing the same...
