App won't reopen after recording session and closing in Studio Mode (Windows - requires Task Manager kill)

Open danlannan777 opened this issue 6 months ago • 2 comments

Description

After finishing a recording and entering Studio Mode to make edits, I close the app by clicking the X in the window. After doing this, I am unable to reopen Cap. Nothing happens when I click the shortcut, taskbar icon, or try to launch it any other way. The only way to get it working again is to manually kill the process via Task Manager and then relaunch.

Expected behavior: the app should fully close and allow reopening normally.

Reproduction

  1. Open CAP
  2. Record a new video
  3. Finish the recording
  4. Enter Studio Mode
  5. (Optional) Edit the recording
  6. Close the app using the X in the top-right
  7. Try to reopen CAP — it won’t launch
  8. Open Task Manager, find the CAP process, end it
  9. Try again — now it launches

Additional Context

  • Cap version: v0.3.45
  • Operating system, version: Windows - Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3915)

Maybe related or separate issue, but on macOS after recording delete the recording usng the delete icon at top-left corner of the app, no way to create another recording except quit the app and repoen it again

I've not been able to reproduce this in v0.3.46 on Windows 11 (OS Build 22631.5189), we'll keep trying on other machines and I'll have a look for potential deadlocks which could be causing this.
