Disabling comments is a way big task, please see https://github.com/solarissmoke/disable-comments and use it's MU version.

The module doesn't actually disable comments. It only disables comment urls. The idea being that it will be less appealing to spammers, and if someone does submit a comment author url then it would be an automated message that didn't use the comment form - so would be spam.

The tool I am suggesting would literally delete all pingbacks and trackbacks. There would be no going back. So technically it would be quite easy to make. I just need to make sure people are aware that it is final.
