Not getting expected result via Get-AzVM commandlet
Description
Sometimes, we are not getting the expected outcome from the Get-AzVM commandlet.
For e.g. my VM names follow some naming conventions.
- rkjsas-svhapa001
- rkjsas-svhapa002
- rkjsas-svhapc001
- rkjsas-svhapc002
$projectCode="rkj" $app="sas"
Below command does not return anything. Get-AzVM "$projectCode*$apphap"
But if I make changes to my command like below one. I get the correct output.
Get-AzVM | Where-Object {$_.Name -like "$projectCode*$apphap"}
Could you please check why this discrepancy.

@jainrohitk I see the results are same for both cmdlets. Cmdlet is trying to look for variable named $apphap and not for $app and thus you won't get the desired results.
For example -
Here the cmdlet will return all the VMs starting with "Azure*" and will not look "azure*testvm2"
Whereas if you use the correct name it will yield the results like below-
