Open or create a project in the PROJECT view. Then change to the SCM view. It will ask you to open a folder and display a file search dialog. You select the folder in which your PRJ file is stored. This will have created a hidden .git folder in it. BUT on returning to your PROJECT view, it will be blank. Of course, you can reopen your PRJ file but that is not my ideal workflow. The Project Manager should, on opening a PRJ, synchronize the EXPLORER view opening the folders included in the Project so activating the SCM view would work the same as when using Workspaces.
