Can't Access Firefox with Authenticator

Describe the issue

Hi!

I just upgraded my Firefox browser and now it requires that I log in using Authenticator. I've added the extension but I can't get it to work. In my attempts to get something to work, I'm now locked out of Firefox. But the Catch-22 is my only way back into the account is through Authenticator.

Here's all I understand so far:

The Authenticator Extension appears to have three options to interact with it, none of which I can figure out:

    a) I need to add my first account. It says, "No accounts to display. Add your first account now." I've looked at the instructions on how to open an account at _https://authenticator.cc/docs/en/quickstart_ but nothing responds as described.

    b) The QR Code doesn't respond. It just says, "Capture Failed. Please reload and try again." Also, I'm unsure if Firefox uses the QR code.

    c) The manual entry asks for Issuer (Authenticator Extension, right?) and Secret. I have no idea what to put in there. Apparently, a Secret is provided at some point, but I've not seen it yet.

So sorry for being completely lame here. Appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks so much, Laurie

1st of all this issue is not the fault of this extension, that said...

TBH, What were you thinking when you enabled 2FA for your sync account using an extension whos settings are kept in your sync account only? (chicken and egg problem) Eg. You should never rely on one single app to store your 2FA tokens...

For 2FA troubles with your account see: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-if-im-locked-out-two-step-authentication You can disable and re-enable 2FA once you can get back in your sync account using one of those steps if possible.

Next time make sure to enroll your 2FA tokens in at least 2 separate apps that work independently. fe. I use firefox on mobile plus Authy on my phone for that purpose
