Video freezing after 1-2 seconds

My WebRTC cards go from Loading to RTC, then play 1-2 seconds and then the video freezes. The audio continues to work.

This happens 50% of the time.

If I tap on RTC, the video reloads and sometimes it solves the issue.

My setup is HA core 2025.3.4, WebRTC 3.6.0 and Go2rtc 1.9.9. Same issue was with WebRTC 3.5.2 and Go2rtc 1.8.4 and 1.9.4.

I have noticed the same issue also with the native camera player of HA (which I think uses Go2rtc now).

No error in HA logs or Go2rtc logs.

Any idea?

The problem is usually related to a broken stream (low quality camera or connection). This is difficult to troubleshoot without access to the stream.

Interesting.

It is happening with a HikVision CCTV which has been there for the last 5 years, connected to the same LAN of my HA server. The issue started recently, although I struggle to find the root cause.

Actually, if this helps, the stream never stops when opened from the go2rtc link, in a browser (Firefox mobile, e.g.). The issue only happens when looking at the video from the webrtc card in HA. I am using the companion app on Android.

Any pointer?

This is strange. Browsing inside go2rtc and browsing the card shouldn't be much different.

Yes I just did some more tests and it is the same irrespective if it is local or remote: the issue only happens with the companion app. Chrome Mobile and Firefox Mobile work both well.

I'm having the same issue... It starts playing the first 2 or 3 seconds then freezes, after about 30 seconds resumes for 2 or 3 seconds, freezes again...

I already tried:

  • Browser: Microsoft Edge and Opera GX
  • Configuration: Using URL (go2rtc and entity - Unify Protect Integration)

Scenario:

  • Connected to the same network as HA through cable (1 GbE)
  • My camera is an Ubiquiti G5 Flex connected to an UDM Pro
  • The network connection is stable
  • My HA is on 2025.9.3
  • It happens both on PC and Android (companion app)
  • In Image Entity card the camera doesn't freeze
