Oh -- I was just playing today a number of piano pieces that had passages like this, so it's not that uncommon. But I don't think that the professional desktop notation software solved this (or if so not till recently) so I don't think it's worth holding up getting it in. A test that currently fails in a complex case is fine to keep, and then we can keep it for something to fix later.
